William “Bill” Bays joined Virginia Asset Management in the beginning of 2009, after 22 years of experience in the financial and insurance fields, including two years spent as the Chief Financial Officer of a 200 million dollar per year engineering company. A native of the Richmond area, Bill graduated from James Madison University in 1987 with a BBA in Management/Marketing. He also completed the Virginia Bankers Association School of Bank Management Program at the University of Virginia in 1994.


Bill holds the Series 7, 66 registrations and Virginia Life and Health designations, Bill is also a registered representative and investment advisor representative with Securian Financial Services and a financial advisor with VAM. Bill is a member of the Million Dollar Round Table, a premier society of financial professionals. As Director of Field Development, Bill is involved in joint field work with new advisors as they embark on their careers in financial services.


Bill resides in the Stonehenge area of Richmond with his wife, Cynthia and their two children. He is an avid JMU rooter, and is also active in the Chesterfield Business Council, the Gordon Athletic Association and the Chesterfield Youth Basketball League as a volunteer board member.
