Michelle Oliver brings over 20 years of experience in the financial, insurance, and marketing industries to her career as a Financial Advisor at Virginia Asset Management. She began her career at Life of Virginia and then spent time at Wachovia Bank and Securities, GE Financial, and Genworth Financial. She owned the Oliver Financial Group for over six years, until merging her practice into the Richmond based branch of VAM. Michelle focuses on speaking with women and families about the connection between their finances and empowerment issues. She is passionate about promoting financial literacy and enjoys helping others make positive changes for both themselves and their families.
Michelle has produced many articles on money management and life insurance for a variety of different publications. Her work has been quoted in several print and online magazines. Among these, some of the most notable have included: Bankrate.com, Blackenterprise, Essence, Heart and Soul, and the Richmond Times Dispatch. In 2009, Michelle also served as the CVS Pharmacy Personal Finance Expert Spokesperson. Professionally, she is involved with the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA), the National Association of Professional Agents (NAPA), and Securian’s Women’s Interactive Sales Exchange (WISE). Michelle is a graduate of Virginia State University.

A native of the Richmond area, Michelle currently resides in Glen Allen. She and her husband, Clarence, have two children, Lauren and Evan. Michelle is very active in her community, particularly with the Commonwealth of Virginia Girl Scout Association. With the Girl Scouts, she has served as both an Advisory Council member and co-chair of the Alumni Council. Michelle continues to work with the Girl Scouts as a 2011-2013 Board member and is also involved with the Parent Teachers Association at her children’s school.
