Joe Fernandes is a 1982 graduate of Dartmouth College. He has over 28 years experience in financial services. Before joining the Virginia Asset Management team, Joe served as Corporate Treasurer and Director of Investor Relations with publicly traded companies as well as a Vice President of a major commercial bank.

Joe’s primary focus is working with small and medium size business owners and high net worth individuals assisting them with their planning and wealth accumulation and preservation strategies. Joe is a registered representative and an Investment Advisor Representative with Securian Financial Services, Inc.

 He serves on the Board of Directors of the Peninsula Metropolitan YMCA, is member of the 100 Black Men of the Virginia Peninsula, and the Knights of Columbus. He is a past member of the Peninsula Board of RBC Centura Bank. Joe and his wife Denise and their children Brian and Nicole live in Williamsburg. Joe enjoys cycling, reading and family activities.
