Affluent investors expect more than an off-the-shelf approach to investment services. They expect an approach that’s highly personalized and that leverages the expertise of highly skilled investment managers. They find it at Virginia Asset Management. Our services are designed to enhance and protect your wealth. They provide you with access to a wide universe of investments run by a roster of independent investment managers who offer a variety of investment philosophies, styles and areas of expertise. And they are borne of a disciplined process that many investors have followed for decades. It involves three steps.

Developing an investor profile. The first step is to establish your investment objectives, your time horizon and your tolerance for risk. In general, investors who want to build wealth will accept higher risks to achieve long-term growth. Those who want to protect wealth will generally accept conservative returns and a lower level of risk. Finding your comfort level is key.

Building a portfolio.
With your investor profile as a guide, we recommend an asset allocation strategy – aframework for dividing your portfolio among different asset classes.
Your portfolio will be tailored to help optimize after-tax returns by offsetting capitalgains, where possible, and by carefully monitoring gains and losses asthey are accrued.*
The investments that we recommend to you are examined for manager tenure, historical performance, risk management, fee structure and style discipline.
And throughout the relationship, we review with you variables such as required income, events outside your portfolio and changes in your tax status.

Ongoing management.
Once an investment strategy is in place, your investment representative uses a disciplined review process to help ensure your strategy is meeting your goals. Often adjustments are required.
As the value of asset classes changes over time, for instance, your account may need to be rebalanced to bring it in line with your allocation strategy. Significant life events – a marriage, a divorce, the birth of a child or grandchild, the sale of a business – may also require a change in your investment strategy.
We regularly review risk adjusted performance over both the short and long term and compare results to relevant indices and benchmarks. We utilize a due diligence process that reviews asset managers to ensure they follow their stated investment process and avoid style drift.
Your investment representative will review your consolidated account statements with you on a regular basis to discuss any recommended adjustments and is always available to answer your questions and keep you up-to-date on any changes that might affect your strategy.
