Gaurav “G” Shrestha was born in Nepal and then relocated to Reading, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University magna cum laude with a B.S. in Finance and a specific concentration in Financial Planning. While at VCU, “G” was the recipient of the Wall Street Journal Award, Finance Student of the Year, and served as President of the VCU Chapter of the Financial Management Association. “G” has worked in the financial services industry since 2000 and joined Virginia Asset Management in 2003 as a financial advisor and is a Investment Advisor Representative (IAR) with Securian Financial Services, Inc. He also holds various securities registrations, including the Series 7, 66 and Life and Health License, and he is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP™). He co-teaches the Financial Strategies for Successful Retirement course with Michael Sanson, CFP at the VCU School of Business and has been a guest speaker at VCU on numerous occasions. “G” is a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA), Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), and the Premiere Resource Group, a national group of experienced wealth, insurance, & financial advisors. “G” resides in the Museum District. He is the President and Co-Founder of the Young Alumni Council for VCU. He also serves as a Board Member for the VCU Alumni Association and the VCU School of Business Alumni Association. “G” is an enthusiastic participant in all sports, but his favorites are basketball, football, and golf. He also enjoys running, wine tasting, white water rafting, and deep sea fishing when the opportunity arises.
